Daughter of Seth & Elizabeth (Bartlet) Chase.

This is speculative placement of this memorial. Daughter Elizabeth was born and died in Sutton. No gravestone or marker for her has been found at Dodge Cemetery or any other Sutton cemetery. It is most likely that she is buried at Dodge Cemetery.

The Chase lot in Row 6 of the South Section is definitely the older of the two Chase lots at Dodge Cemetery. There are three gravestones or markers. The first is for mother Elizabeth (Bartlet) Chase. The second is for father Dea. Seth Chase. The third is a vertically positioned piece of fieldstone without inscription or either side. Not unique to Sutton, vertically placed fieldstones were commonly used to mark the burial sites of early residents before slate, and later, marble stones were available/affordable.

It is believed that the fieldstone shown in the attached photo marks the burial site of young Elizabeth.
