Lillian Pate Andrews, 90, of Cleveland, MS, passed away on Thursday, September, 3, 2020 at Walter B. Crook Nursing Home. Visitation was held at Ray Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m on Saturday, September 5, 2020. Services were held in the Chapel at Ray Funeral Home after visitation with Rev. Brad Beckwith and Milton Burd officiating. A private family burial service followed in the New Cleveland Cemetery under the direction of Ray Funeral Home. The family asks that you dress casually & wear a mask.
Lillian was born on November 18, 1929, to Lawrence Brady Pate Sr. and Allie James Pate in Sunflower, Ms. She grew up in Cleveland and graduated from Cleveland High School. Lillian worked in accounting at Sledge Chevrolet for over 40 years. In 1977, she married George “Sonny” Andrews. She went on to work at Roberts Library at Delta State University in accounting until she retired in 2007. She enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, planting & growing flowers, decorating, and spending time with her family. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Cleveland, her Sunday School Class, and 6 Up.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Brady Pate Sr & Allie James Pate; her brothers, William Pate, L.B. Pate Jr, & Kenny Pate; one sister, Mildred Pate Warren; and daughter-in-law, Debra Ingold Machell.
Lillian is survived by her son, Jack Machell, Jr. of Cleveland,MS; daughters, Gina Machell Staggs (Tommy) of Doddsville, MS, and Linda Machell Gaskin Evans (Tom) of Florence, MS; Seven grandchildren, Tony Gaskin, John Gaskin, Angela Gaskin Keen (Chris), Ashley Machell Litton (James), Anna Machell Muzzi (Dereke), Jill Staggs Farish (Jon), Jennifer Staggs Shearer (Brian), and eleven great grandchildren. Special thanks to her caregivers, Nikki, Sharon, Latoya, and Shaunta.
Pallbearers will be Tony Gaskin, John Gaskin, James Litton, Dereke Muzzi, Jon Farish, and Brian Shearer.
The family wishes donations be made to the First Baptist Church in Cleveland, MS
