Julia Ann's parents were Hiram and Martha (Washburn) Underhill.
She married Benjamin Dow in New York. They came to Portland township, Whiteside County, Illinois in 1839 and settled at Jefferson Corners in the same year along with Hiram and David Underhill. Benjamin died on 22 Nov. 1865 in Jefferson Corners. Julia Ann and Benjamin had 7 children: Mary A., Erwin, Clayton, Irena Permila, Austin, Hiram Emery, and Marion Edward.
Julia Ann married Jared Freeman Hulburt on 30 June 1874 in Whiteside County, Illinois. Jared was an old family friend and former neighbor who had previously moved to Oregon. Jared's first wife, Eliza Jane Hite, had died in 1867. He had traveled back to Illinois to marry Julia Ann after visiting relatives in Ohio. They came to Linn County, Oregon in August 1874 where he had 12 children. Julia Ann had 4 or 5 surviving children at the time of this marriage. They did not have any children by their marriage together. One of her children, Hiram Dow, came to Oregon with them. Jared died on Feb. 6, 1881.
Julia Ann married David W. Brewer on 27 October 1885. David's first wife was Susan Small. Julia Ann & David Brewer and Abram & Olive Underhill went to Illinois shortly thereafter and brought Julia Ann & Abram's mother Martha Underhill back to Oregon. Martha lived with Julia Ann near Shedd in the winter and with Abram in Philomath in the summers. Martha died in 1894 when she was 99 years old. Besides Hiram, three other of Julia Ann and Benjamin's children (Erwin, Clayton, and Irena Permila) came to Oregon.
