Maria never returned to Argentina, but did accompany Diego in visiting his hometown in Spain after nearly 40 years. Maria would start a new chapter in her life at the age of 59 returning from Spain to Utah after an accident that would leave her in a wheelchair for the next 19 years of her life. Maria left her mark on this earth as an example of strength and courage to everyone who knew her. Maria's faith in the gospel was never shaken even through all her trials and hardships. She firmly believed in the resurrection, knowing that one day she would be made whole again. Her condition did not stop her from helping to raise her grandchildren who loved sitting on her lap or getting rides on her wheelchair. She was a very special mother, grandmother and great grandmother who celebrated 50 years of marriage with Diego. They were sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple Oct. 20, 1973. Her passing brings much sadness and sorrow to those who know and love her, but there is a sense of joy in knowing she is no longer trapped in her body.
Her great legacy does not end here; she temporarily leaves behind her adoring husband Diego. Children, Liliana (Lance) Bunker, David (Darla), and Miguel. Grandchildren Jason, Brandon, Lark, Justin, Serene, Jaime and Great-Grandchildren Miyah, Jenessa, Noelle, and Jake Diego. Sisters Pili Villar and Maria Luisa Gutierrez, Brother Guillermo (Socorro) Paries and many friends and extended family. Preceded by her parents and brother, Enrique (Argentina) Paries.
