Alzheimers

Mary Alliene Kirby Hemphill passed September 6, 2020 after an eight year battle with Alzheimers at the age of 72.
Mary was born to George and Geraldine Kirby in Corning, New York. She graduated from Painted Post West High School in 1965 and was one of the first women to earn a letter in athletics.
She graduated from Pauldines School of Beauty and worked as a beautician for several years.
Survivors are her loving husband of 52 years, one son, one daughter, one son-in-law, three grandchildren, one sister and many special friends.
Mary was an accomplished carpenter and artist. She lit up a room with her bright smile and kind giving heart.
She will be missed by all. Rest in peace.

She was an amazing painter and cake decorator. The OG of DIY. Never afraid of a power tool, not afraid to get dirty, she was a lot of swear words. My mom was full of grit. I remember junk finding with her before it was cool. Christmas was her favorite and my brother and I always had the best birthdays. She always put everyone else first.

She loved her children and son-in-law to pieces and loved her grandkids even more.

My mom also loved music and the Beatles. I've always found comfort in this song, especially since my mom's name was Mary. This would be her advice to me at any time. Only worry about what you can worry about—although she was the biggest worrier.

Paul McCartney wrote this song about his mom, Mary...

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
And when the broken-hearted people
Living in the world agree
There will be an answer, let it be
For though they may be parted
There is still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Yeah, there will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be
And when the night is cloudy
There is still a light that shines on me
Shine on 'til tomorrow, let it be
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
There will be an answer, let it be
Let it be, let it be
Let it be, yeah, let it be
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be"
