Longtime Alaska resident Frank Calvin Bell, 90, was found dead July 20 at his summer cabin near McGrath. A graveside service was held at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service was held at the People Count Building in Nikiski. Mr. Bell was born Sept. 22, 1901, in Hitchcock, Okla. He came to Alaska in 1939 to be with his brother who was ill. In the early 1940s, Mr. Bell moved to Seldovia and started a dairy, which he ran until going to work for the Alaska Railroad in the 1950s. He also opened the original Bell's Nursery and homesteaded at Daniels Lake. He had been living in the Nikiski area for several years. Mr. Bell is survived by his daughter, Janice Groller of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his sister, Ruth Gustafson of Duluth, Minn.; two grandsons, Alan Groller of Wasilla and Randy Groller of Anchorage; and a granddaughter, Carolee Johannes of Anchorage. Arrangements were by Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
