At an early age she joined St. Beulah United Holiness Church. She remained a faithful member until moving to Brooklyn, NY. She was educated in the Vance County school system and graduated from Henderson Institute in 1957. She continued her education at North Carolina Central University and graduated in 1961.
Frances moved to Brooklyn, NY and became a model for Cover Girl Magazine. She won Cover Girl of the Month and was the first black model to appear in the Cover Girl and Bronze Thrills (May 1963) Magazine. She later began working as a librarian at the Cornell University Medical College (now Weill Cornell Medical College) until her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and writing poems. She composed music as well. Her friends in the musical entertainment world included songwriter Bill Salter, singer Maxine Brown, singer Barbara Harris of "The Toys" singing group and Sheila Ferguson, Fayette Pinkney and Valerie Holiday, "The Three Degrees" singing group.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by three brother/cousins: George Earl, Richard and William Hamilton.
She leaves to cherish her memories a godson, James M. Taylor: two sister/cousins: Lucy H. Taylor and Ruth Ann Small; a special cousin Linda Overby all of Henderson and a host of other relatives and friends.
A private graveside service was held at the St. Beulah United Holy Church. There was no public viewing.
