He was a native of London, Ky. and had lived in Scott County for the past five years. He was a member of Mount Hebron Church of Christ in Washington County, and High Twelve Lodge 577, F & AM of Detroit.
He was a veteran of World War I, and a woodworker. He retired in 1963.
He is survived by his wife, the former Maysel Nichols; a son, James R. Allen, of Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Hinson and Mrs. Betty Newberry, both of Warren, Mich. ; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Collins Funeral Home here, with burial in the Mount Hebron Cemetery. The body will be at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
