James Edward Manary, 89, died peacefully Friday, June 9th at Mercy Hospice surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, June 13th at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City, with Rev. Randy Harker officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery. A time of fellowship will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 PM at The Kirkwood Room (next to the funeral home).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Mercy Foundation for the Mercy Hospice.

James was born February 19, 1928, the son of Chester and Nellie Wood Manary.

James married Carol Grecian on January 5, 1949 in Wapello, Iowa.

James was employed by Mayflower Transfer and Rock Island Motors for over 17 years.

From 1967-71 he was affiliated with Fairfield Sports. In 1971, James and Carol became the owners of Harry’s Custom Trophies in Coralville, a business still owned and operated by the family.

He loved to hunt, fish and trap shoot.

James is survived by his loving wife, Carol and their four children, Steve (Linda) Manary of North Liberty, Craig (Cheryl) Manary of Iowa City, Rick Manary of Tiffin and Kevin (Linda) Manary of Solon; eight grandchildren, Corey (Pam), Jaime, Brian, Kelli (Nolan) Symmonds, Megan, Kim (Todd) Hinkel, Michael Doyle and Mitchell (Judy) Doyle and fifteen great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Michiko Manary.

James was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Leo Embree, his brother, Jack and sister, Bertha Jean.
