On November 14, 2017, at the age of 100, Robert M. Acker of Lansing, Michigan joined members of his family and the Lord in Heaven.

Robert "Bob" was born August 24, 1917 in St. Marys, Pennsylvania to J. Murray and Helen Acker. Everyone that knew Bob could not help but love him. There was a smile for everyone he greeted. He was the most compassionate, loving and generous husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather.

After moving to Owosso, MI he attended Owosso High School and went on to graduate from MSU as a geologist. Shortly after marrying his high school sweetheart, Arlene VanWagnor, the bombs hit Pearl Harbor, and he took the call to serve his country in the US Army during WWII.

After returning from war, he worked in the upper peninsula of Michigan in the CCCs returning to Lansing when he was hired as a geologist in the Oil & Gas Division for the State of Michigan. Bob is preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Arlene; daughter, Ann (William) Nummy; son-in-law, Wayne DeCort; 2 brothers, Charlie and Everett and their respective wives. He is survived by his daughter, Jan De Cort; grandson, Daniel (Mishay) DeCort; granddaughter, Julie (Aaron) Yuhas; great-grandchildren, Kali, Leiya and Christian Robert DeCort, and Ella and Claire Yuhas; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

A private service will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Compassus Hospice Care, 801 S. Waverly, Lansing, MI. Arrangements with Tiffany Funeral Home.
