Born May 13, 1923 in Toms Brook, Va., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Nellie Smith Rau.
After she and her husband were married, they moved to Rockville, where they worked in the dairy farm industry; later moving to their dairy farm in Green Valley. While operating the farm, she was employed as a cafeteria worker at Green Valley Elementary School. Mrs. Savage had a great love for playing Bingo.
Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Sanbower of Ijamsville, Betty Musselman and husband Joe of Libertyown, and Judy Owens and husband Randy of Frederick; one son, Timothy Savage Sr. and wife Michelle of Frederick; one sister, Elsie Melvin of Hagerstown; and one brother, Eugene Rau of Walkersville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Savage is preceded in death by her son, Martin L. Savage Jr., in 1984; and son-in-law Harold Sanbower in 2007.
Friends may call 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17 at Molesworth-Williams Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 at the funeral home with Reverend Nancy Baker officiating. Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
