John W. Younger.

The death of John W. Younger, which occured at his home northeast of this city on Monday night, April 24, 1916, is a loss not only to his family but to the community at large.

John W. Younger was born in Spartanburd, South Carolina, November, 5, 1845. Enlisted in the Confederate Army February, 1864, serving until the close of the war. His father died and Mr. Younger, with his mother, five brothers and three sisters, went to Grayson county, Texas. While there he was married to Miss Elizabeth Cross, November 11, 1874. To this union six children were born: Mrs. Vada Taper, Colman, Charles, James and Miss Julia. The oldest child, Lula, died when small.

Mr. Younger professed faith in Christ when young and united with the Missionary Baptist church and lived a Christian life the remainder of his life.

All was done that loving hands could do but of no avail. It was his time to answer the final summons from the Great Master and he was surely ready to answer: "Here am I, Oh! Lord." Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. E. Gwatkin at the family residence April 26th. Burial in Doxey-Sayre(sic) cemetery.
