After high school, he lived in Denver, Colorado.
He was a U.S. Postal Service employee until the onset of cancer.
Michael often travelled to Mexico and Hawaii. He was naturally curious, and enjoyed the relationships he established on his trips.
Helping those less fortunate came easily to Michael, and many people benefited from his generosity.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Brander.
He is survived by his mother, Esther Dusing Brander of Spencer, Iowa; four sisters: Barbara Jorgensen (Dan) of Spencer, Iowa, Toni Hood of Humboldt, Iowa, Patty Lee (Joe) of Iowa City, Iowa, and Joni Brander of Chicago, Illinois; and 11 nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8 at Fratzke Funeral Home in Storm Lake, IA.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m.
A lunch will follow the service.
