MRS. M. W. VALE
Just 24 days after the death of her sister, Mrs. Jennie Heap Mogeau, Mrs. M. W. Vale passed over the borderland into the Far Country, the end coming last night at 10 o’clock. The double loss that has come into these pioneer families of the city and valley in so short a space of time brings a burden of grief which only the tender fingers of time can heal.
Mrs. Vale was taken ill only last Friday, pneumonia developing almost at once, and heart complications being added to the severity of the disease. Reports but a day or so ago were to the effect that she was on the road to recovery, but a turn for the worse followed soon after, a physician being called early yesterday morning, and the end coming at 10 o’clock in the evening.
Annie May Vale was born in Parowan, Utah, 65 years ago in February, coming to this city with her parents soon after, for she had passed almost 65 years in this city, and at the residence 451 Seventh street.
She was well known here for her beauty of character, the womanly virtues being exemplified in her personality with a measure usual among such of earth’s loved ones, and word of her passing will bring sincere sorrow to those who have known and loved her.
Beside the husband, M. W. Vale, of Vale’s ranch, in Waterman canyon, there are left to mount three children: J. A. Vale, Milton Vale of this city, and Mrs. J. T. Moultrup of Kansas City; two sisters, Mrs. W. N. Keller, of San Bernardino, and Mrs. F. P. Dunlap, of Rialto; three brothers, Fred and James Heap, of this city, and Joseph Heap of Riverside.
Last rites will be held on Friday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the residence, John Brown, Jr., to read the service of the Pioneers. Interment will be in the Pioneer cemetery, with the Mark B. Shaw company in charge.
Anne's parents were:
