John Bland Humble, 79, Cecilia, Ky., died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kentucky.

A native of Russell Springs, Ky., he was the son of the late John E. and Vonnie Humble.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, an Army veteran during the Korean War, retired from General Electric after 23 years, and a member of the American Legion 113 and the Cecilia Ruritan Club.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Josephine Hagan; a sister, Nannie Brockman; and a brother, Daniel R. Humble.

Survivors include his wife, the former Bernice Fulkerson Boone; a son, Dennis Humble of Louisville; five stepchildren, Kenneth Boone of Jamestown, N.Y., Judy Bernauer, Janette King and David Jenkins, all of Louisville, and Kevin Boone of Georgetown; four brothers, Avery, James and Calvin Humble, all of Russell Springs, and Billy Humble of Louisville; two sisters, Eudora Cooper of Russell Springs and Margaret Gosser of Palestine; two grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.

Funeral: Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Louisville.

Officiant: The Rev. Stanley Osborne.
