Services for Carey Crane Terry, 85, of Lamesa were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday January 27 in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Hardage pastor officiating. Burial was in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
Mr. Terry died about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at Medical Arts Hospital. He had been declining health for several years.
A native of Wills Point, TX, he was married to Zola Anna Cox in March, 1921 in Fort Worth. He was a graduate of the University of TX and was a math teacher, football coach, high school principal, and a high school teacher in the Wills Point school. He also worked for the Mason Dry Goods Company in Wills Point before moving to Lamesa in 1935. Mr. Terry was a member of the Lions Club and the First Baptist Church of Lamesa where he taught a Sunday School class for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife, a son, Dr. Joe Terry of Loraine; a daughter, Mrs. Martha Terry Monroe of Harlingen; three sisters, Mrs. Ura Jensen and Miss Faye Terry both of Canton, and Mrs. Odessa Gautier of Grand Saline; four brothers, Ross and Willis, both of Canton, Ben of Sacramento, CA; and Russell of Houston; 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Ura, Willis and Odessa attended the funeral services.
