Our beloved aunt, Jeannette L. Abbass, at the age of 89, passed away in her own home on July 11, 2012. Jeannette Abbass, born May 19, 1923, was the daughter to the late Salim and Rehgie Abbass. Jeannette was a member of the Utica Central Association for the Blind. She worked at the Broad Acres Nursing Home for over 30 years as a telephone operator. She had a beautiful voice and sang for friends and masses at St. John the Evangelist Church. Upon retirement, she resided in her own home in New Hartford next door to the home of her late brother, Fay J. Abbass, who died in 2009, and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Abbass. Here they cared for Jeannette and all watched over each other.
