Mr. Franklin Tudor Abernathy, age 86, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Compass Healthcare in Spencer, NC. He was born in Brunswick County, Virginia to the late Alfred Trudor and Carrie Whitlow Abernathy. Mr. Abernathy was retired from Proctor Silex where he was a tool and die maker. He was a loving father and grandfather who will surely be missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memories are daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Gary Ellison; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby Puckett Jr. and wife Robin, David Puckett and wife Luann, Ricky Puckett and wife Tisha, E. Gary Puckett; sixteen grandchildren and twenty seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Claudette and David James as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Mr. Abernathy was preceded in death by his wife Margaret New Abernathy; sons, Ronnie and Stephen Puckett. A graveside service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Holly Springs Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Terry Coe. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 PM until time to leave for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
