Beeson Funeral This Afternoon

W. P. Beeson Dies Monday; Funeral and Burial in Williamstown.

Wallace P. Beeson, 70-year-old vice president of the Fenton Art Glass company of Williamstown and prominent lifelong resident of Wood county, died in a Marietta hospital Sunday at 4:30 p.m. of acute dilation of the heart and laryngitis. Until Sunday Mr. Beeson had been recovering nicely from an operation for the amputation of his left leg four inches above the knee, undertaken seven weeks ago because of diabetic trouble from which he was suffering. A few days ago he developed a sore throat which did not respond favorably to treatment and caused the more serious complications Sunday.

Wallace Page Beeson was a member of one of the pioneer Williamstown families, have been the son of the late Benjamin Thomlinson Beeson and Mrs. Elizabeth Henderson Beeson. He was born at Parkersburg on Jan. 21, 1861, and grew up to be one of the prominent and influential citizens of Williamstown, spending practically his entire life in that community. He served as mayor of Williamstown for three terms and was one of the organizers of the Fenton Art Glass company in 1906 and had served either as a director or vice president of it since that time.

Mr. Beeson was also interested in the oil industry, and had successful development interests in Wood and Ritchie counties, W.Va., and in Washington county, Ohio. Since the organization of the Farmers’ and Merchants National Bank in Williamstown, he had been a director of the institution. He was a member of the First Methodist church of Williamstown and held the office of trustee at the time of his death.

On October 29, 1896, Mr. Beeson was united in marriage with Miss Fawn McIntosh of Williamstown, and for many years they had made their home on the Waverly road at 206 East Fourth street. Mrs. Beeson survived with a brother and four sisters of the deceased, including Mead Beeson of Elizabeth, W.Va., Miss Ida Beeson, Miss Georgia Beeson and Mrs. Winifred Beeson Palmer of Williamstown and Mrs. Elizabeth McDougal of Reedville.

Rev. William Knox, pastor of the church, will officiate at the services, which will be held at the First Methodist church in Williamstown this afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be made in the K. of P. cemetery.
