Mr. Spencer was born in Brunswick County on June 5, 1909, and was the son of the late William and Frances Stanley Spencer.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Berta Gurganious Spencer of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Eunice) Boswell of the home and Mrs. Thomas E. (Loretta) Long of Beltsville, Md.; a brother, Floyd Spencer of Bolivia, N C.; a sister, Mrs Lovie S. McCall of Bolivia, N.C., five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p m Thursday in Coble's Oleander Chapel with the Rev. J. LaVon Phillips and the Rev. George W. Fowler, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Coble's Oleander Chapel between 7 and 8 p m Wednesday.
