He is survived by daughter Danna Kohleffel and husband Ted, and daughter Debi Reed and husband Larry. Family members include grandchildren Shane Davis and wife Kristine; Kimberly Werner; Donna Schumann and husband Carl; Brandon Davis and wife Heather; Christopher Kohleffel and wife Terri; Nicholas Kohleffel; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many loving friends. Martin was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, member and past president of The San Antonio Executive Assn. and a member of Texas #8 Masonic Lodge and San Antonio Scottish Rite. He was actively involved in the annual Castroville Game Dinner, St. John Lutheran Game Dinner, Mico Volunteer Fire Dept. BBQ and fundraiser, and Boysville Auxiliary. Martin was a decorated WWII veteran and served with the Army Air Corp in the American Theater and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. After the war Martin returned to San Antonio and began a life-long career with Lone Star Ice & Food Stores. He retired as President in 1986. Martin was a true Country Gentleman and community, family and friends were vitally important to him. A fine man, a true friend and an exceptional role model to all who knew him. He was always available to help with any project, work 'behind the scenes' and never desired any credit or praise. He had a passion for hunting and the outdoors which lead him to develop his own venison sausage recipe. He spent many happy weekends sharing his recipe, expertise and sausage making facilities at his home. He leaves a legacy of faith, compassion and loyalty that will live on in all who knew him.
