A graveside service for Conrad E. "Connie" Blevins, 74, will take place today, Sept. 11, 2007, in St. Johns, Ariz. He passed away Sept. 7, 2007, after a long bout with lung cancer at the family home in Mesa, Ariz.

He was born Nov. 29, 1933 in Porum, Okla., and moved to the Grants area as a young boy. He worked as a cowboy and later as a truck driver for the uranium mines and also hauled logs and timber for the family sawmill. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he married Vera Heap in St. Johns in 1956 and the couple moved to Grants. The family moved to St Johns, where he worked for the Apache County Road Department until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Vera; children Ward Blevins of St. Johns, Donna and Johnny Dehart of St. Johns, Doug and Terrie Blevins of Milan, John and Cynthia Blevins of St. Johns and Kristy and William Ropeter of St. Johns, Deanna Blevins and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Blevinis and Ruby Eicks, sisters Charlene Lasher, Charlotte Marable and Joan Martin and brother JT Blevins.

A gathering of family and friends will gather at noon at the St. Johns city park after the services.
