John was originally from New York City. He was a retired Captain with the NYPD. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of retirement and farming life upon moving to Burdett in 1975. To many in the area, John was always available and willing to lend a hand when needed and will be deeply missed by all.
Surviving are three daughters, Deborah Edele, Donna Lodge and Dawn Owen; one son, John Ney Jr. (Marina); five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; special niece, Barbara Smith; and special nephew, Joseph Feigenbaum. John was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Marcella Ney.
