Marvin Doug Andersen
October 16, 1940 - August 20, 2017

Marvin "Doug" Andersen, 76, Twin Valley, MN., died Sunday, August 20, in the Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.

Marvin Douglas, was born October 16, 1940, to Marvin and Arlene (Ek) Andersen, in Fertile, MN. He was raised in Gary, MN., where he attended school, played baseball, and was in track. He was baptized and confirmed into faith, at the Gary Lutheran Church, where he remained a lifetime member. Doug graduated high school with the class of 1958, and went on to work with his father, at Gary Seed & Produce. He had a potato sales route that he ran, which went from Gary to Rock Rapids, Iowa, for several years.

Doug was united in marriage, to Harriet Broers, on December 15, 1958, in Zion Lutheran Church, in Twin Valley. The couple made their home in Gary for a few years, before moving to a farm, east of Twin Valley. Doug farmed and also operated a saw mill on the farm. They moved into Twin Valley, during the mid-1970's, where they have made their home since. Doug was employed at Viking Snowmobiles, for seven years, where he was a foreman, much of the time. During this time, he continued to farm, log, and run the saw mill. He retired in his early 60's, but could often be found out on the place, east of town.

In his younger years, he loved auto racing and would race on the tracks, in Gary and Detroit Lakes, in car # 39. He still has trophies of the days. In more recent years, he enjoyed going to car shows and tractor pulls. Another pastime Doug had, was woodworking. Doug was a lifetime member of the Western Minnesota Steam Thrashers Reunion.

Doug is survived by his wife, Harriet; one son, Douglas, Twin Valley; one daughter, Kathy (Bruce) Asbury, Sarasota, FL.; two brothers, Joel (Kathy), Twin Valley, and Glen, Gary, MN; and two sisters, Darla (David) Stojevich, Mesa, AZ., and Lani (Dennis) Rude, Argusville, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Allen, Steven, and Darrell; and one daughter, Angela.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 24, at 11:00am., in the Gary Lutheran Church, Gary, MN. A time of gathering will be Wednesday, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm., at the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley, and one hour before services at the church.
