Roger Cameron Abbott & Dorothy Gudrun Rasmussen Abbott, loving husband and wife of 53 years, died together on July 1, 2010. They were devoted parents, grand-parents and members of Peachtree Presbyterian Church. Roger was born in Buffalo, NY on January 16, a graduate of Phillips High School, Birmingham, AL. in 1945. He enlisted in the Navy in 1946 and then graduated from Auburn University, majoring in Chemical Engineering. After a successful career in his field, Roger retired and was able to pursue his passion and share his vast amount of knowledge of baseball, automobile history, and jazz, Dorothy was born in Lancaster, PA on June 12, 1932., and lived most of her early life in Carney's Point, New Jersey. She graduated from Delaware School of Nursing in 1953 and pursued a career in Public Health Nursing in Wilmington, DE. Dorothy and Roger met in Wilmington while he was there working for DuPont Chemical. Shortly thereafter they were married in Carney's Point and moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where they were active members of Shades Valley Presbyterian and where they raised 3 of their 4 children, Susan, Sally and Tom. The family moved to Dunwoody, GA in 1972 and their son Stephen was born that year. Dorothy dedicated much of her life to raising and caring for her 4 children and her sister Grace, who also lives in Dunwoody. Her sense of humor brightened all of our lives. While not taking care of
others, she escaped cheerfully into the world of fiction. For 33 years they were members of Peachtree Presbyterian Church, and had many wonderful & faithful friends in the AGAPE Sunday School Class. They are survived by their daughter Susan, her husband James, and their
3 children, Casey, Sophie and Jack, their daughter Sally and her husband Drexel,
and their son Sam, their sons Tom, and Stephen, and Dorothy's sister, Grace Sorenson.
Both were devoted to their lifelong friends from Carney's Point, NJ, Birmingham, AL,
the Village Mill neighborhood and the AGAPE class at Peachtree Presbyterian.

They were victims of homicide.
