Howard served our country in the United States Army during WW II. He retired in 1978 after 30 years of services with the Michigan Secretary of State. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years. He enjoyed many hobbies thru the years, including fishing, reading, and others too numerous to count.
He is survived by his daughters, Susan (Leo Friedman) Swanson of Okemos and Sharon (David) Rushing of Cary, NC; grandchildren, Matthew Rushing and Stacey (Bryan) Kaufman; 2 great-grandchildren Aaron and Avery Kaufman; sister, Evelyn Plant and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 8 brothers and sisters.
Private funeral services will be held with Howard being laid to rest next to his wife. The family wishes to thank the staff at Timber Ridge Senior Assisted Living for the loving and gentle care they gave Howard over the last six years. Contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church.
