Anna Lora (Dike) Kotschwar, passed away September 13, 2019, at the home of her daughter in Wahoo, Nebraska, at the age of 88. She was 10 days shy of her 89th birthday.

Anna was born September 23, 1930, in a farm house near the Dismal River, which lies between Tryon and Mullen, Nebraska. She was born prematurely without the aid of a doctor or midwife. Her parents thought that she would not survive, being so small at 4-pounds plus, so they put her in a box on the door of the oven to keep her warm. She did survive and left this world a better place for being the strong woman she was throughout her life. She was the 4th child of 15 surviving siblings, two more failing to make their mark in the world.

Anna worked as a nurse’s aide with the Sisters of St. Catherine’s Hospital while in Mc-Cook. While in Bridgeport she was the assistant cub scout leader with Billie Johnson. In Lincoln, she worked as a Physical Therapy Aide at the Eastmont Towers for 20-years before her husband’s death in 1989.

She married Esley James Kotschwar in McCook on December 21, 1950. Their first two sons, James and Terry, were born in McCook; they then moved to Bridgeport where Esley was stationed as a Nebraska Safety Patrol officer, which later become the Nebraska State Patrol. While living in Bridgeport, they had two more children, Timothy and Phyllis. In 1969, Esley was transferred to Lincoln to accept a position as a Criminal Investigator with the Nebraska State Patrol Crime Lab.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Esley; parents, John Elmer and Velma Mae (Johnson) Dike; her brothers: Bennie ‘Ben’, Charles ‘Chuck’, Jerry, Donal and Dale (twins), and David ‘Dave’; sisters: Mary ‘Elsie’ Miller, Francis ‘Fran’ Woolworth-Tuttle, and Shirley Casselman-Miller; grandchild Allen; great-grandchild Kymberlee.

She is survived by her sisters: Minnie ‘Redean’ or ‘Dean’ Casselman, Patty ‘Pat’ Lockman, Judy Esterly, Betty ‘Bet’ Worth, and Connie Minge; children: James (Sandra Alkire), Terry (Roxane Pohlman), Timothy ‘Tim’ (Robin Hoffman), and Phillis ‘Phil’ (Kotschwar) Wolf; grandchildren: Brandee, Cindy, Amanda ‘Mandy’, Christopher ‘Chris’, Stephanie, Cynthia ‘Cindy’, Stacie ‘Stace’ and Sabrina ‘Beanie’ (twins), Robert, Kelly, Patrick, Mathew, and Johnathan and Andrew (twins); great-grandchildren: Aeryn, Keela, Eric, Kolby, Cloe, Ashley, Kasey, Beckett, Brittni, Chancelor, Maizlyn, Logan, Brooklynn, Brianne, Emaline, and Serenity; great-great grandchild Tadion.
