Gerri Peek
June 27, 1929 - September 29, 2020

FARMINGTON – Alma Geraldine “Gerri” Peek of Farmington passed away September 29, 2020 at her home at the age of 91. She was born in Crystal City, Missouri to the late Oscar Ratley and Alma Lavada (Mills) Ratley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years and 11 months, Milton Peek who passed in August of 2020.

Gerri was a long-time member of Farmington First Baptist Church. As of 2020 she was in her 37th year of reading the Bible through. In high school Gerri learned German because she wanted to be a spy for the United States. Gerri was a devoted member of the Daughters of the American Revolution/Sarah Barton Murphy Chapter for many years.
In 2014, she was honored with the DAR Historic Preservation Award in recognition of her work preserving the William Murphy Cemetery in Farmington. William was her Revolutionary War Patriot ancestor from North Carolina.
Gerri and her husband, Lt Col Milton Peek, later successfully petitioned St. Francois County to continue the upkeep of this historic landmark. She belonged to the DAR and was a descendant of Rev. William and Sarah Barton Murphy, the founders of Farmington. Gerri joined the Nancy Weber Garden Club in 1973 and was later made a lifetime member. She oversaw the upkeep of the William Murphy Cemetery on Old Fredericktown Road until the county took it over around 2015. She was an excellent bridge player and had loved playing bridge since 1951. Along the way she made many lasting friendships while playing bridge. An avid lover of golf, she also was a researcher, enjoyed music, solving puzzles, mysteries, eating Indian food and wearing beautiful scarves.

Gerri loved her husband, Milton, so very much and honored him until her very last breath. She was the loving mother of three sons, Thomas, wife Sheilah, of Oxford, England, Daniel (deceased), wife Catherine, and David, wife Randi, of Forth Worth, Texas; three daughters, Deborah (Mrs. Paul) AuBuchon of Farmington, Rebecca (Dr. Richard) Page of Plano, Texas and Angela (Mrs. Robert E. II) Propes of House Springs, Missouri; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

There will be a private family graveside service at Zolman Cemetery on Friday, October 2, 2020
