Tyren Berry Jones, Sr., 73, of Timberlake, died Monday, October 5, 2020. Born in Durham County, Mr. Jones was the son of the late Andrew Jackson Jones and Martie Royster Jones and husband of the late Vicki Lorrain Jones. He is preceded in death by three sisters: Ella Rachel Taylor, Doral Jones Summers and Andra LaFaye Jones. Mr. Jones served in the US Navy as a corpsman during the Vietnam War. He later worked as a transmission mechaninc for 17 years and later retired from IBM after 22 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and was recently preceded in death by his fishing buddy, Tom Poole.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Jewel Hamill Jones; two children, Tyren Berry Jones, Jr. and Martie Lorrain Jones; two step-children, Reece Lewis Carpenter and Timothy Scott Lewis; two brothers, George Edward Jones and Andrew "Buddy" Jones; two grandchildren, Aaren and Tyren(III); four step-grandchildren, Clancy, Blair, Lindsay, Katie; four step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.
