Enlisted Sept 28, 1812, troops ready to cross the Ohio Oct. 20 1812, marched to Delaware OH, arrived November 1812 and joined with Penn. Brigade. Point Pleasant on the Ohio River was the rendezvous point. proceeded up the Scioto River to Marion and Upper Sandusky, crossing to Finley and onward across the dreaded Black Swamp to Fort Meigs, near the Maumee Rapids. Leftwich arrived on Jan. 21,1813. aided in the construction and defense of Fort Meigs. British and Indians attacked in spring 1813.
