First Woman to Marry in Ames Is Dead
Mrs. Mary Jane Nichols Cramblitt, 93, a resident, of Ames for 72 years, died Monday morning at 4:30 at her home, 915 Kellogg Avenue. She had been ill for several years.

Mrs. Cramblitt was born December 9, 1844, near Farmersville, New York, moving later to Mt. Clemens, MI, where she resided for several years. She came to Ames from Canada in 1866 and on March 5, 1868 was united In marriage to Dr. Eli B. Cramblitt in the first wedding ceremony to be performed in Ames.

Mr. Cramblitt, a Civil War veteran who had participated in many of the major battles of the war, died April 10, 1933 from pneumonia at the age of 92 years. He was a charter member of Ellsworth post No. 30, Grand Army of the Republic.

Mrs. Cramblitt had been a member of the local Women's Relief corps for more than 25 years.

Five children were born to the couple, three of whom survive. They are Mrs. Rose E. Stockwell and Bert D. Cramblitt of Ames and Mrs. W. B. Lincoln of Morristown, TN. Also surviving are grandchildren, Florence Bouckout of Santa Rose, CA, and Willis B. Lincoln, Jr., of Indianapolis, IN.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from the Adams chapel with the Rev. A. R. McLaughlin in charge. Burial will be in the Ames Cemetery.

All members of the Women's Relief corps are asked to meet at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Adams chapel to attend in a body, funeral services to be held tor Mrs. Mary Jane Cramblitt, member of the corps for more than 25 years.
Officers are requested to wear white uniforms as the relief corps service will be given.

Among those in Ames Wednesday for the funeral service for Mrs. Mary J. Cramblitt, pioneer Ames woman, were Frank H. Nichols of Louisville, Nebraska, a nephew of Mrs. Cramblitt, Willis B. Lincoln, Jr., of Indianapolis, IN, a grandson, and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Linder, Mrs. Helen Calkins and Mrs. John Diehl, of Boone, friends of the deceased.
