Robert Thomas “Bob” Josias of Desoto, Missouri was born on September 18, 1942 in St Louis, Missouri and passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Festus, Missouri at the age of 78 years.

Bob was raised by the late Ms. Julia Solomon whom he considered to be his mother. After Julia’s passing, her daughters Rose, Aurelia and Eunice Solomon stepped in and continued to care for Bob as though he were their own brother.

In addition to Ms. Solomon, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Walther) Josias, brother Jimmy Josias, and his adoptive sisters, Rose, Aurelia, and Eunice Solomon.

After graduating high school Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and began a 20-year career as part of the illustrious 101st Airborne Division, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. Following his retirement from the Army in 1988, Bob went to work for the Missouri Department of Corrections as a Corrections Officer, working at the Potosi, Pacific, and Licking facilities. After 20 years with the Department of Corrections, Bob retired and focused his attention on being a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan, never missing a game, being a very active member of the Desoto VFW, and particularly spending time with his family.

He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him including his two daughters, Josie Loveless (& Mike Branam) of Bonne Terre and Dee (& Coby) DeClue of DeSoto, brother Ron Josias of Texas, sister Jackie Sister of Florida, granddaughters Kelli Loveless and Kerri (Ethan Martin) Loveless, and great grandchildren Bentley and Parker as well as numerous other relatives and many dear friends.

A Private Graveside services with full military honors will be conducted at the Pilgrims Rest Baptist Cemetery.
