EDWARD KNOTTS
Edward William Knotts, Jr., 17-year resident of Poway, died April 6 in Santa Clara, Calif. He was 52.
Born Feb. 11, 1935 in Inglewood, Calif., he had been a truck driver for the Global Van Lines Corporation for nine years. He was an enthusiastic and active member of the community and helped many of the local organizations such as the Boy Scouts, Poway Emerald Brigade, the Poway High Rodeo, Poway League of Girls Softball and the Pony/Colt teams.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Inglewood and a retired United States Naval Chief Petty Officer. He served the Navy from 1954 to 1973 and had received such awards and commendations as the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Gallantry Cross, the Vietnam Service Medal with Star, the Navy Achievement Medal and many others.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Knotts of Poway; sons, Edward W. Knotts III and Barrie Smith, both of Poway; daughter, Louise P. Knotts, also of Poway; brother, Donald L. Knotts of Crestline, Calif.
Visitation will be held April 14 and 15 from 4-8 p.m. at Poway Bernardo Mortuary Chapel. Services will be held April 16 at 10 a.m., also at the Mortuary Chapel.
A private interment will be held at Inglewood Park Cemetery.
Poway Bernardo Mortuary is handling all arrangements.
