PEKIN ~ Robin Keith “Rob” Conover, 66, of Pekin, passed away at 11:34 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2020 at UnityPoint Health – Methodist in Peoria.

Born March 27, 1954 in Kennett, Missouri to Pete William and Sallie Mae (Williams) Conover, he married Alesia L. Mitchell on October 10, 1986 in Peoria. She died October 22, 2012 in Peoria. He later married Mary Ann (Marlin) Crombie on July 27, 2014 in Bartonville. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Jason (Jamie) Conover of Normal, Brad (Kelly) Conover of Pekin, Jim (Rebecca) Kravec of Collinsville, Janelle Lowery of Swansea, South Carolina, Daniel Marlin of Peoria, Amelia (Nick) Christy of Bryant and Sean (Nicole) Crombie of Phoenix, Arizona; eight grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Judie) Conover of Pekin; two sisters, Carmalita Nash of Pekin and Linda Jones of Lincoln and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves two sisters-in-law, Tammie Conover and Kathryn Tisdale, and his best friend of more than 50 years, Dana Herold.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dennis Conover and two sisters, Barb Frye and Sherry Conover.

Rob was a proud Marine, a loving husband and father, and a wonderful Papa.

He spent the majority of this life as a paranormal investigator, with Conover Paranormal Investigations, also known as Team CPI. Rob handled more than a 1,000 cases and was a well-known speaker and commentator on paranormal investigations for radio and television shows throughout the country and internationally. He was a published author and actor. He also had formerly worked for the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department as a correctional officer and with the Conover Detective Agency with his brothers.

Rob was a person of faith and felt that his path in life as a paranormal investigator was a God given calling and gift. Rob was also passionate about horses, watching westerns and was a lifelong fan of John Wayne.

His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Burt Dancey will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, and also one hour before the service Thursday. Inurnment will follow the memorial service in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded.
