Cecil E. Monson of Mountainville, died Friday, November 4, 2005 at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital after a courageous battle with thyroid cancer. He was 75.
The son of Carl M. Monson and Elva S. Erickson Monson, he was born April 18, 1930 in Austin, Minn.
He was a Corporate Construction Manager with Cablevision Industries in Liberty, and was also a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson with Lucille Hand Realtor in Mountainville.
Cecil served in the Air Force Intelligence during the Korean War, 1952-56; and was a member of the Orange County Board of Realtors.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Hand-Monson, whom he married on April 3, 1987; his daughters, Laura Feligno and her husband, John of Geneva, N.Y., and Sheila Tustin and her husband, Tom, of St. Charles, Ill.; one son, Carl Monson and his wife, Kelley, of Geneva; stepchildren: Kenneth Hand and his wife, Marybeth, of Mountainville, Gail Vesely and her husband, Joseph, of Ellenville, Marin Hand and his wife, Mary, of Wallkill, and John Hand and his wife, Patricia, of Highland Mills; his sister, Shirley Tapp and her husband, Leslie, of Dexter, Minn.; three brothers: Loren Monson and his wife, Louise, of LeRoy, Minn., Ray Monson of Leroy, Minn., and Alan Monson and his wife, Nadine, of Bellvadere, Ill.; eight grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brother, David Monson.
He was an avid sportsman. He loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He also enjoyed traveling and going to antique tractor shows and antique tractor collecting.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at the Quigley Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson St., Cornwall-On-Hudson, N.Y.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9 at the funeral home with the Rev. Gregg Wood officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
