Mrs. Doris Alene Armidon, 82 yrs. old, a resident of Lakeland, FL, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2007 at the Palm Terrace Hospice House in Lakeland due to COPD. Mrs. Amidon was born October 20, 1924 in Knapp Creek, NY to Ralph William and Emma Lucille Terrette Bly. She was a resident of Polk County since 1976 coming from Hinsdale, NY. She was the City of Auburndale's horticulturist until she retired; she was also involved with the New York Community Action Program and the Auburndale Green Thumb Organization. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Bert Brizzee; former husband, Charles D. Amidon; brothers, Warren H. Bly, Ralph W. Bly II, and Robert W. Bly; sisters, Ardella M. Caya and Dorothy Miller.
Mrs. Amidon is surived by her 4 sons, Gary L. Colleen Amidon of Hinsdale, NY; Ferderick P. Marianna Amidon of Virginia Beach, VA; Bruce D. Tammy Amidon of Winter Haven, FL; Douglas W. Michal Amidon of Lakeland, FL; 2 daughters, Linda P. Paul Dieffenwierth of Brandon, FL; Doreen HIller of Brandon, FL; 2 sisters, 20 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the Auburndale Memorial Park.
