For 35 years Eileen served as gift recorder and overseer of office operations at WPI's Alumni Office. She was an active member, volunteer, and CCD teacher at St. Rose of Lima Parish. She was an avid reader and found joy in crocheting throws for her family. Eileen loved outings with her siblings and luncheons with her childhood friends. Most of all she adored quality time with her grandchildren.
Besides her husband, Eileen leaves behind her five children, Jean Borkowski of Ann Arbor, MI, Stephen Scopetski and his wife Karen of Arlington, MA, Kevin Scopetski and his wife Karen of Northborough, MA, Neal Scopetski and his wife Beth of Auburn, MA, and Susan Snyder and her husband Rodney of Sterling, VA. She also leaves 17 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, 2 brothers, Edmund Dowd of Worcester, MA and Frederick Dowd of Auburn, MA, as well as 1 sister, Patricia Dowd of Alexandria, VA. Eileen was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Fleming and 5 siblings, Francis Dowd, Thomas Dowd, Margaret Lovely, Mary Dowd, and Virginia Axton.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 16th, from 4-7pm at Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main Street, Northborough. Eileen's funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Thursday, May 17th, at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 244 W. Main Street, Northborough. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery, Northborough.
