Pamela J. Flagg Paddock, devoted wife of Michael R. Paddock, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the age of 53, after a courageous battle against Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. Pamela was born on July 17, 1964, daughter to Robert F. and Virginia M. (Graham) Flagg.
She grew up in Northborough as "one of the Flagg girls" and has many relatives still living in town including her parents. She was educated in the Northborough public system and graduated from Algonquin Regional H.S., Class of 1982. She then attended Nichols College where she was awarded a B.S. in Business Management. At Nichols, she was named to the MAIAW State Field Hockey All-Star Team, traveled Europe playing exhibition matches with the USA Field Hockey Team, and earned awards as the Bisons' All-Time Career Scorer.
Pamela had a varied career. As a recent college graduate, she was accepted into the Management Trainee Program with JCPenney Co and became an Assistant Manager, Children's Department. She was a flight attendant for 13 years with Delta Airlines and retired shortly after 9/11. She was most recently employed as a Special Needs Paraprofessional at Oaks Middle School in Shrewsbury.
Pamela and Michael spent eight years in Arlington, TX prior to moving to Shrewsbury in 1999, where they raised their family for 17 years. In 2016 they relocated to Tomball, TX, and returned to Massachusetts this past January for cancer treatment.
Pam has been called a Yard Sale Diva; she loved the "art of the find" and had a eye for identifying hidden treasures. When not spending time caring for her family or running after her dog, Cody, Pam could be found in Shrewsbury volunteering at Oak Middle School, St. Mary's Church teaching Catechism, Shrewsbury Youth Soccer coaching youth soccer, or at Shrewsbury High School and St. John's High School cheering on her children in their many athletic endeavors.
Among her survivors Pamela leaves her husband, her beloved children, Michaella and her fiancé Brian Story, Dylan, Rebecca and Jacob; her loving parents Robert and Virginia Flagg, and her mother-in-law Nancy A. Paddock of Rutland. Pamela also leaves behind her six siblings, Elizabeth A. Pease, Debra M. Axline, Stephany E. Kelley, Diane L. Flagg, Robert F. Flagg, Jr., and Rebecca F. Sprague. She also leaves many aunts and uncles who she loved dearly and over 25 nieces and nephews.
We want to thank all the doctors and nurses at MD Anderson, National Institute of Health (NIH), Dana Farber and Brigham and Woman's hospitals and all the Visiting Nurses especially Harry, Bill, Sarah, Tamara who so lovingly and compassionately cared for Pamela. Thank you to all her extended family members and friends who gave of their time, energy and resources to make sure Pam knew that she was truly loved and valued. And a special thank you to Pam's mother and father who blessed her with unconditional love, care and nonstop support throughout her life and especially during the final stages of her disease.
