Hubert R. Haynes
86, Brownsburg, passed away Oct. 11, 2020. He was born in Ehrmandale, IN on Jan. 21, 1934. Hubert served in the US Army from 1956-58. His life-long career was devoted to education. After graduating from Fontanet High School, he received his Bachelor and Master degrees from Indiana State University. His professional educational accomplishments included social studies teacher and coach at Avon High School, assistant principal at Brownsburg High School, principal at Hamilton Heights School, assistant superintendent and then superintendent at Brownsburg Community School Corporation, and then assistant superintendent at Avon Community School Corporation, where he served over 20 years before retiring in 2000.
Masonic heritage was important to Hubert and he was involved in many Masonic organizations at the local, state and international levels. He worked at his local Bethel in Brownsburg and served as associate Grand Guardian of Indiana and as Associate Supreme Guardian at the international level. These experiences allowed him to make many friends throughout the Job's Daughters World. Hubert was a 32nd Degree Master Mason as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Scottish Rite and was also a Shriner
He was honored to be chosen to be a Sagamore of the Wabash.
He was preceded in death by a sister Gertrude Miller. Survivors include his wife Catherine Haynes; daughter Miranda Edelstein; brother Douglas (Nina) Haynes; grandsons Ross, Cole, and Drew Edelstein.
