Velma married James Shipp Jr. on September 8th 1946 in Yuma, Arizona. They moved to Los Angeles where they happily raised their two children, Michael and Larry. Velma was longtime and devout member of Paradise Baptist church in Los Angeles. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and making crafts that she lovingly gave to others. Velma "Cookie" Shipp will be remembered for her compassion, kindness and generosity. On the morning of September 15th, 2007 Velma was called home to be with the Lord.
Cherishing her memories are: two children: Michael J Shipp and Larry E Shipp, grandchildren: Wallisa, Antwan, Michael Jr., and Laresse Shipp, great grandchildren: Antonio, Deja and Diveli, sister: Geraldine Wheeler, brothers: Robert and Alfred Freeman and a host of nieces and nephews.
