"Services for Ralph W. Coltrane, 74, Ottawa, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Assembly of God Church, Ottawa, with the Rev. Wesley Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.


Mr. Coltrane died Friday at his home.


Mr. Coltrane worked first in production and later in the safety department of Hercules Powder Co., DeSoto. After 1974, he worked in the federal civil service as a safety engineer in Granite City, Ill., and Pearl City, Hawaii, for the U.S. Army. He retired in 1982 and moved to Ottawa.


He was born Sept. 4, 1915, in Lawrence. He attended Wellsville schools and graduated in 1933 from Appanoose High School in rural Franklin County. He attended Emporia State Teachers College.


Mr. Coltrane was a member of First Assembly of God, Ottawa, where he served on the board of deacons and sang in the choir. He was a former member and board member of the boards of deacons of Assemblies of God churches in Baldwin, Pearl City and Eudora.


On May 8, 1938, at Kansas City, Mo., he married Ada Lorene Bricker. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Becky Wisdom, Lawrence, and Mary Amburgy, Booneville, Ky.; a son, William Ray, Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Frances Wiggins, Ottawa, and Dorothy Bushfield, Prairie Village; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren."
