Freda was a daughter of William Wallace Hottel and Ida Myrtle Fitzgerald. She died young, two weeks after the birth of third son.
Freda was a descendant of the Hottel family of Tom's Brook, Virginia. The first Hottel immigrant ancestor, Johannes Hottel, was born in 1685 and came to America from Switzerland in 1732. Freda was descended from two Rev. War soldiers who were Hottels. Her mother's side traces back to John Fitzgerald, a Revolutionary War soldier born in Ireland about 1750 and a son-in-law of Peter Wentz, a Rev. War Patriot from Montgomery County.
