Donald Prudhomme -- Retired Machinist

PHILADELPHIA - Donald Joseph Prudhomme, 72, Philadelphia, died Tuesday at Samaritan Medical Center. Mr. Prudhomme was a machinist assigned to hydraulic testing at New York Air Break Co., Watertown, retiring in 1977 after 32 years.

Born Aug. 6, 1924 at Mercy Hospital, Watertown, son of E. George and Mary Moscoe Prudhomme, he moved with his family to Gatineau, Quebec, where he attended school. His family returned to the United States in 1940. He served in the Army during World War II.

He married Edith Mildred Hilt on May 8, 1947, in the rectory of Holy Family Church, Watertown, with the Rev. John D. Harvey officiating.

Surviving besides his wife are four nieces and seven nephews. A brother Alfred, and a sister, Francis, died before him. A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Church with the Rev. Liam O'Doherty officiating. Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 1620 Burnett Ave., Syracuse, N.Y. 13206.
