Roscoe James Belcher, 78, French Lick, died at 2:22 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.

A native of Orange County, born March 4, 1922, he was the son of the late James and Dora Conrad Belcher.

He was a catering manager for 30 years at French Lick Springs Hotel, a manager for Belcher's Laundry in West Baden and a member of Our Lady of the Springs Catholic Church. He was also an Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Brenda Johnson and Mary Agan, and a grandson.

Survivors include his wife, the former Helen J. Land; a son, Jack Belcher of Columbus, Ohio; three daughters, Janie Emmons of Corydon, Margaret Jones of Houston and Rosie Dedrick of French Lick; two sisters, Ida Wolfington of Indianapolis and Elnora Wolfington of French Lick; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was Saturday, June 3, at Chapel-Brosmer-Drabing Funeral Home in French Lick with burial in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. Father John Hall officiated.
