He was the son of Lambert and Elizabeth Walrath Bellinger.
He married Saphronia E. Bradbury on December 21, 1892 in Newport at her home.

John C. Bellinger, 72, a former resident of Middleville, died June 28, 1936 at the Fulton county home following a cerebral hemorrhage. He was at one time chief of police and also served as fire chief in Middleville, and was an exempt fireman in the Spofford Hose company in Dolgeville. He was
born February 12, 1864, at Inghams MiIls, son of the late Lambert and Elizabeth Walrath Bellinger and will be kindly remembered by many friends in this county.
Surviving are three brothers, Arch Bellinger of Little Falls, Albert of San Antonio, TX and Bert of Dolgeville; a sister, Mrs. Madge Braziell of Allentown, PA.
The remains were taken to Dolgeville and the funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 p m. and will be private, from the home of the brother Bert, Wolf street, Rev. Leslie Potter, pastor of the Dolgeville Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be made in Inghams Mills cemetery. Johnsville Enterprise and News, Wednesday, July 1, 1936
