The first time Elizabeth turns up, is on two census records in 1850 with her five children. One in Franklin, Tennessee, and one in Madison, Alabama. There are still no documents including her maiden name. Her last known residence is with her son James Jackson in Anderson County, Texas - shown on the census record in 1910. She was presumably 96 years of age at that time. She was also likely buried in this cemetery somewhere near James Jackson and his family although a thorough search of the cemetery does not show any evidence of a headstone. Elizabeth had five children: Sarah Ann Spray Barnett, Melvina Spray Dunagin, William Wells Spray, Serena Matilda Spray Acklin and James Jackson Spray. Family stories indicate she was born a York. In the 1850 census she turns up twice (once in Franklin County, Tennessee and also in Madison, Alabama - just across the river from one another). In 1850, she is shown with Mary Deeton (who becomes Polly Deaton on later census records). Semore York, Jr. of Grainger County, Tennessee died in 1819 leaving a will indicating that he had daughters by the name of Polly Seaton (most likely Deaton) and Elizabeth. Semore York, Jr. is currently under research as the father of Elizabeth Spray.
