PRINCETON - Belle Richards Vest, 92, of Princeton Health Care Center, formerly of Lake Shawnee, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999. Born Jan. 21, 1907, in Raleigh County, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Ernestine Hurst Calfee. Mrs. Vest was a member of Matoaka Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and children's mission groups, and sang and played the piano. She spent many years singing in trios and quartets and sang in many revivals throughout Mercer County. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy F. Richards; her second husband, Arlie G. Vest; two sons, Ray M. Richards and an infant son, James Howard Richards; a grandson Charles Barry Anthony; two brothers, Steve Calfee and Roscoe Calfee; and three sisters, Marsha Pack, Beulah Walker and Geneva Underwood. Survivors include two sons, Frank Richards and Joe Richards and his wife, Maxine, all of Princeton; three daughters, Beulah Allen and her huysband, Coe, of Beckley, Helen Testino and her husband, Anthony, of High Point, N.C., and Nancy Anthony of Lake Shawnee; a brother Ernest Calfee and his wife, Dorothy, of Raleigh; a sister, Violet Welch and her husband, John, of Raleigh; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home, Princeton, with the Revs. Harold Underwood, Ralph Calfee and Jim Kestner officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
