Mary Louise Shelton Gibson, 100, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 20, 2007. She was born on February 14, 1907, daughter of the late Egbert L. Shelton and Annie Hudson Shelton and was preceded in death by her husband, Harry D. Gibson; a sister, Grace M. Shelton; and brothers, Robert L. Shelton and Eugene D. Shelton. Louise was a graduate of Jefferson High School's Class of 1925. She was retired from the Veteran's Administration Regional Office. She was a 50 year member of Eastern Star, Electa Chapter 33, a member of National Association Retired Federal Employees, member of Senior Citizens Group, S.A.L.T. Melrose Baptist Church. She was an active member of Melrose Baptist Church and served as volunteer organist for over 70 years retiring February 14, 2001 on her 94th birthday and was 1st Organist Emeritus. She is survived by a niece, Ann S. Tinnell of Blacksburg, Va.; nephews, Thomas L. Shelton and wife, Sherry, of Richmond, Va. and Eugene Shelton and wife, Bonnie, of Williamsburg, Va.; sister-in-law, Dorothy M. Pittman of Newport News, Va.; aunt, Lottie Hudson Camden of Wilson, N.C.; and a number of special nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. The family would like to thank caregivers, Judy Morgan, Linda Linkous, Bernice Campbell, Mary McPeak, Dawn Richardson, and Jennifer Sass for all their loving care and concern for Louise during the past four years. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2007 at Melrose Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Sprouse officiating. The interment will follow in Fair View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Building Fund at Melrose Baptist Church, 3520 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Va. 24019. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at Oakey's North Chapel, 540-362-1237.
