Cindy grew up in Fort Worth and graduated from Richland High School in May of 1975. She obtained her bachelor's degree in education from The North Texas State University in December of 1978 and continued with her education receiving her master's degree in counseling from North Texas State University in August of 1987.
Cindy worked for the Arlington School District from 1979 until the time she retired in 2012. Cindy dedicated her career to working with young children and began as an elementary school teacher for Arlington Independent School District from 1979. In 1995 she furthered her career and began working as an elementary school counselor for the Arlington School District and continued until her retirement in 2012. Cynthia was dedicated to her work and changed many young lives with her counseling.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Ruth Smith and Billy Hinds Smith.
Cindy is survived by her brother, Mark Smith and his wife, Kristi Marti-Smith; niece, Lindsay Lindsay; nephew, Landon Smith and his wife, Laura Aikman-Smith; great-nephews, Braden Lindsay and Stayton Smith; and great-nieces Bailey Lindsay and Raylin Smith.
A memorial service will be held November 14, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home, 3100 White Settlement Road in Fort Worth.
The family asks that you consider a donation in Cynthia's memory to the Susan G. Komen cancer research foundation where she was actively involved after her mother's untimely death from breast cancer or St. Jude Children Research Hospital, another beloved charity.
