J. P. Brasfield of 909 North Third died Monday. He was 73. He was a retired correctional officer at the state penitentiary, member of the Penticostal Holiness Church, Senior Citizens and Peace Officers Association. Born Jan. 27, 1905 at Smithville, Miss., he and Etta Mae Williams were married Sept. 21, 1926. He lived in Pittsburg Cunty some 60 years. Survivors in addition to his wife, Etta Mae, of the home, include two sons, Troy Lee Brasfield of Arpelar and Dale Brasfield of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Owida Meek, Odessa, Tex. and LaVon Seymour of Oklahoma City; a sister, Clara Upton of Tishomingo; 15 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Mills Chapel. Rev. Archie Beller will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mills Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Ronnie and Randy Scott, Blake Meek, Troy Brasfield and Dave Richards.
